Transmission applications are made to Landgate when the owner of a property dies and the property is being transferred to another person or entity, such as a company. The transmission application triggers a change in the rating of the property from ‘active’ to ‘transmitting’, which means that rates and other charges will no longer be invoiced in the name of the deceased owner. Transmission applications can also be made for properties that are being transferred as part of a deceased estate. In these cases, the administrator of the estate will need to provide Landgate with a copy of the death certificate and proof of their appointment as administrator. Transmission applications can be made online or in person at any Landgate office.
